Alexander Halsey - Pop Radio
Australia
(Psych Pop)
Alex Halsey is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist originally from Perth, Australia, now based in Byron Bay.
His story began with his decision to make a cross country voyage in his Grandfather’s Falcon, with a box trailer full of music gear. Perth to Sydney via the desert, where he dialed in the Pop Radio sound during the pandemic. Then from Sydney to the Northern Rivers, where the album was layered to tape from a home studio visited by floodwaters.
His debut album Small Steps, Tiny Doors is a beautifully colourful and thoughtfully curated body of work holding the energy of the 60s psychedelia, 70s pop with hints of post punk vocals.
